[Robot] Create your own user groups on Google Wave with Invity

Posted by Prashanth On December - 2 - 2009

Are you waving with same set of people again & again? And tired up adding them into new waves again & again? Invity is the perfect solution for you. Invity saves current participants of a wave into group which can be used later to add an entire group into a new wave. Invity helps in managing your contacts in groups & makes it easy to invite them all in one shot to a new wave.

Just add Invity to your wave & it loads a new blip giving you option to name the group & save:

invity

Now create a new wave, add Invity & select which group you want to invite to the wave:

Invity2

[Gadget] Featuristic ‘Poll Gadget’ for Google Wave

Posted by Prashanth On November - 30 - 2009

We have already come across many robots & gadgets which lets you add polling to wave. I must say this one beats all of them! Poll Gadget lets you add/remove options & create a poll. Results will be showed as soon as somebody votes. Poll Gadget uses Google chart APIs to represent the data in different charts (Bar chart & Pie chart). “Log” shows complete history about which user voted for what. Once the polling is completed, admin (One who created the poll) can click on “Embed Charts” to show the results to other users.

[Gadget] Record & share videos on Google wave using Nimbb

Posted by Prashanth On November - 17 - 2009

Nimb

Nimbb gadget for Google wave allows user to record & share videos from webcam. Once it is added to wave, flash based gadget requests for the access to webcam. User can then record the video & stop when done. Video can be played back before saving, once saved video will be automatically made available to other participants of wave. The Gadget use Nimbb APIs to record & save the video. I don’t understand why gadget doesn’t provide video URL to share it outside wave also.

Google Wave maps gadget lets participants of a wave to collaboratively edit map using markers & other tools. Participants can add tittle & description to their markers. Edits by a user will be visible to other participants once user clicks save. This gadget is very different from Trippy. This gadget is multi purpose which you can play around to share your place, route etc with friends. But, Trippy is more concentrated on planning a trip, creating an itinerary ..etc.

Though options to access Google My Maps & save created map to Google My Maps should have been awesome.

[Robot] Graphy: Create flowcharts & graphs collaboratively!

Posted by Prashanth On October - 17 - 2009

Graphy

Graphy is an amazing bot which helps users to create graphs & flowcharts collaboratively. Add a marker #!dot inside anywhere inside the wave & graphy starts doing it’s job. Just after #!dot start typing expressions which needs to be converted into flowchart. For ex: a->b b->c c->d d->a c->e e->b creates a flowchart as shown in the picture.

Planning a trip with friends & family was never been so easy & interactive. Trippy is a Google Wave gadget developed by Lonely Planet, travel information & travel guide portal which makes it easy & fun! Add trippy gadget to your wave & start by searching for the location you wish to go. Trippy loads map of that location & loads recommendations from Lonely Planet. Recommendations are very well categorized which helps you find places in a particular category. User will also be able to read reviews of a particular place inline inside the map. Now the simple drag & drop begins! All the users in the wave can simply drag & drop places which they want to include in the trip. Trippy has clean interface to schedule places into different days, add a comment, edit information of a place etc, which are really handy. User activities are logged in “Recent Activity”, so you can always look back who did what. Once the itinerary is complete, user can email, print or export it to Google My Maps.
